For more than 40 years, Chopard’s Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele has nurtured a passionate relationship with Japan, which he visits regularly. Fascinated by a culture that elevates everyday objects to the status of artworks, he admires Japanese craftsmanship, where rigorous discipline, aesthetic flair and humility unite in a quest for perfection. Each creation is the result of total commitment, masterful skill and infinite patience. Based on respect for traditional savoir-faire and enhancing subtle details, this philosophy naturally resonates with the approach behind the L.U.C collection, whose timepieces embody a demanding, sincere and deeply human vision of watchmaking. In a creative approach that unites the traditional Artistic crafts Chopard is committed to preserving with the rich symbols of Japanese culture, Chopard revisits its most iconic L.U.C models through a series of exclusive special editions inspired by Japanese traditions and decorative arts
L.U.C FULL STRIKE SPIRIT OF THE WARRIOR
To begin with, Chopard presents a one-of-a-kind creation of its L.U.C Full Strike model. Inspired by the world of the samurai and the moral principles defining the discipline of Japanese warriors, this timepiece is an expressive work of art, where every hand-engraved detail tells a story. Featuring Chopard’s signature minute repeater movement – the hand-decorated L.U.C 08.01-L – the L.U.C Full Strike Spirit of the Warrior timepiece delivers unrivalled, crystal-clear sound. The craftsmanship and finishes of this exceptional watch are recognised by the prestigious Poinçon de Genève.
L.U.C QuATTRO SPIRIT ENSO, SAMURAI LAST STAND & MEDITATING DARUMA
Chopard’s emblematic jumping-hour movement equips three exclusive new editions of the L.U.C Quattro Spirit timepiece. Staging an encounter between East and West, the dials of these creations revisit symbols embedded in Japanese culture through Grand Feu enamel skills mastered by a specialised Artisan within the Manufacture. The meticulous finishing of the L.U.C Quattro Spirit Enso, L.U.C Quattro Spirit Samurai Last Stand and L.U.C Quattro Spirit Meditating Daruma models have earned them recognition symbolised by the Poinçon de Genève hallmark. Equipped with the four barrels characterising Chopard’s exclusive Quattro technology offering an up to eight-day power reserve, the L.U.C Calibre 98.06-L places these horological masterpieces among the rare jumping-hour watches endowed with this degree of autonomy. Crafted in 18-carat ethical white or rose gold, each of these three interpretations is an eight-piece limited series
L.U.C XP URUSHI UKIYO-E
True to its tradition of watches adorned with Urushi lacquer dials, Chopard unveils the L.U.C XP Urushi Ukiyo-e timepiece. Issued in an eight-piece limited edition, this outstanding creation depicting Mount Fuji pays tribute to a work by Japanese master woodblock printmaker Katsushika Hokusai. Its unique dial is handcrafted by a master lacquerer using the traditional maki-e technique. The remarkably refined 18-carat ethical yellow gold case houses the L.U.C Calibre 96.41-L, featuring a 22-carat gold micro-rotor and a 65-hour power reserve.
L.U.C XP NIHONTŌ
Continuing its journey into the heart of Japanese craftsmanship, Chopard unveils the L.U.C XP Nihontō model, a 25-piece limited edition. Its dial is handcrafted from damascened steel using a method inspired by Tamahagane, the sacred steel of Japanese swords (known as nihontō). Composed of between 120 and 160 layers, this unique dial reveals moiré patterns evoking the undulations of fire alongside the Zen philosophy of impermanence. This refined aesthetic is complemented by the precision of the ultra-thin L.U.C 96.41-L movement, featuring a 22-carat gold micro-rotor and a 65-hour power reserve. Bearing the prestigious Poinçon de Genève hallmark, this composition is a rare work of art that blends ancestral craftsmanship with contemporary innovation.
L.U.C XP SAKURA BY NIGHT
Finally, the L.U.C XP Sakura by Night timepiece pays tribute to the nocturnal contemplation of sakura (cherry blossoms), symbols of ephemeral beauty. Its dial combines guilloché work, translucent lacquer, sculpted mother-of-pearl and openworked gold. It is enhanced with diamonds to create striking visual depth. The L.U.C 96.23-L movement, decorated using the traditional Fleurisanne engraving technique, reveals extreme refinement extending through to its white gold bridges and micro-rotor. This eight-piece limited edition features ultra-thin architecture and a 65-hour power reserve.
